How to Book Your Place
Start by sending an enquiry through the contact page and tell us what you need. Let us know whether you are a first-time learner, an operator who wants to improve, or a workshop team that needs practical training for handheld laser welding. If you already have a machine on site, mention the make, power range and any materials you work with so we can plan the right setup.
From our Boksburg base, we support bookings for Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, Polokwane and other parts of Gauteng and South Africa. We work with individuals, small workshops and larger teams, so the first step is always to match the course to the work you actually do day to day.
- Tell us your preferred town or training location
- Share the learner level, from beginner to refresher
- Note the type of work, such as thin sheet, repair work or production support
- Say whether you need a single learner booking or a group session
Choose the Course Format That Fits Your Team
We offer practical training formats that suit different workshop needs. Some learners need a focused introduction with guided practice on basic machine use, torch control and weld sequencing. Others need a longer session that covers quality checks, joint preparation and safer working habits around the machine. We also assist businesses that want operator inductions for new staff or refresher sessions for experienced users.
When you book, ask which format will suit your schedule and site conditions. If your workshop has limited space, load-shedding pressure or shared work areas, we can advise on a setup that keeps the session organised and safe. A clear plan helps the learner stay focussed and it avoids wasted time on the day.
- Beginner practicals for new learners
- Refresher sessions for operators with some experience
- Group training for workshops and production teams
- Site-based support for teams with equipment already in use
Safety Matters Before the First Weld
Handheld laser welding needs proper safety controls, not guesswork. During booking, ask about the laser class used for training, the required eye protection and the fume extraction setup. We also discuss workspace layout, reflective surfaces, restricted access and the way materials are handled before and after welding. Good safety practice is part of the lesson, not an extra at the end.
Our safety and compliance approach is practical. Learners are shown how to prepare the area, check their protective gear and keep the work zone clear. If your workshop runs in a coastal area, or a space with heavy daily use, we can also talk through dust control, humidity and equipment storage so the machine and consumables are looked after properly.
- Confirm the eye protection required for the session
- Check that fume extraction is available and working
- Make sure the work area is clear of reflective hazards
- Plan where the machine, cables and consumables will sit
Starter Kits and Setup Support
If you are new to laser welding, ask about starter kits when you book. These are supplied generically for learners and workshops that want the basic items needed to begin practice and keep the machine ready for daily use. A starter kit may include protective items, setup accessories, cleaning essentials and consumables support, depending on the course plan and your working needs.
We also help with starter kit setup so learners know what each item is for and how to store it correctly. That saves time later, especially in busy workshops where equipment gets moved around and people need a simple routine to follow. If you plan to train more than one operator, ask for a kit list that can be shared with your supervisor or workshop manager.
What Happens After You Confirm the Booking
Once your booking is confirmed, we give you the details you need to arrive prepared. That includes what to wear, what paperwork to bring and what the training day will cover. If you are booking for a business, we can also help with operator inductions, workflow advice and a training document pack so your team has a record of what was covered.
At the end of the course, learners who complete the training receive a certificate of completion from LaserWelder Training. It confirms attendance and completion of the course content offered on the day. It is a useful record for workshop files, supervisor sign-off and internal training records.
- Read the joining instructions before the session
- Bring any job samples or questions you want covered
- Keep your supervisor informed if the booking is for a team
- Ask for a refresher visit if your crew needs follow-up support
Common Booking Questions From Workshops
Many bookings start with a simple question: which level is right for us? If the answer is not obvious, send a short note about the type of work you do, the materials you use and whether anyone on the team has welded before. From there, we can advise on the best training path and help you choose a date that suits your operation.
We also support workshops with practical follow-up services such as supervisor coaching, consumables planning, technical help and quality walkthroughs. That can be useful when a team is setting up a new process or needs a better routine for ongoing work. A short follow-up often sorts out small issues before they become bigger problems.
